How do I install Google Desktop? For some reason, whenever I go to
install the new version of Google Desktop, it says that it has to
restart my computer. It does so and then nothing happens. I
double-click the Google Desktop Setup file and it does the same thing
over again.
Some background: I had Google Desktop Search on beforehand, but I was
unable to use Add / Remove Programs to uninstall, so I followed
Google's help and manually uninstalled it. The files are still
resident on my HD. Don't know if this is the problem.
One thing I do know is that if I don't get this solved and soon (I've
sent about four different emails to Google, but always get automated
responses that do nothing), I'm going to have to download the new MSN
desktop search. Please help stop this madness!
Thanks,
JamieUnfortunately, I tried deleting the program files and reinstalling... no luck.you should delete the program files and then reinstall google desktopYou may have something such as a deep preserver which resets the
computer to however you preseved it as everytime you restart the
computer so you can never get any viruses if so you should turn it off
under an administrator account and then try agian.Interesting... any suggestion on where the deep preserver would be so
that I can turn it off. I have, by the way, the following other
programs installed (in case any of these include this feature):
- McAfee Anti-Virus
- ZoneAlarm
- Microsoft Anti-Spyware (or whatever the name of that program is)Clarifications of what I've done already:
- tried the following:

http://desktop.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14124
- deleted all Google Desktop Search registry entries
- have not deleted the program files because it says that it could
make your system no longer work (is this true?)#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
