Cisco's goal is to increase awareness and the use of networking technology in Hong Kong schools, which the company believes will help students and teachers gain access to educational materials both locally and globally.
According to Cisco representatives, the series is consistent with the Hong Kong Government's IT policy initiative for 1999 and beyond.
The first seminar of the series will be held on 6 February 1999 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center.
"We realize that a lot of teachers in Hong Kong don't have such useful materials and tools as multimedia and networking applications," said Ken Ko, public relations manager for Cisco in North Asia.
Ko added that Cisco wants educators to teach with networking technology rather than teach it which, according to him, is the norm in Hong Kong.
There are few schools in Hong Kong that have networks or multimedia tools to
assist in education of their students, said Ko.
